Course overview
This NVQ is tailored for skilled, time served roofers working with waterproof membrane systems. The qualification covers three specialist pathways:
- Reinforced Bitumen Membrane Roofing – Installation and maintenance of reinforced bitumen roofing systems.
- Single Ply Membrane Roofing – Working with single-layer synthetic polymer membranes.
- Liquid Applied Membrane Roofing Systems – Application of liquid-based coatings for seamless waterproofing.
Who can apply?
This qualification is suitable for individuals who:
- Have at least three years’ experience in one of the specified roofing systems.
- Are currently employed or subcontracting within the roofing industry.
- Are aged 19 or over.
Course cost and funding
- Course Fee: £900 (including VAT) – no hidden costs.
- CITB Grant: Up to £650 funding is available for eligible companies registered with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
Assessment process
This qualification is achieved through an Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) approach, allowing candidates to complete the NVQ while working. Assessment includes:
- Workplace assessments conducted by a qualified assessor.
- Compilation of a portfolio demonstrating competency and experience.
