Congratulations to Carol Smith – ‘Juniper Apprentice of the Month’ for April 2020

Joanne Lockley Green and Rachel Benton both nominated Carol Smith:

I would like to nominate Carol Smith this month, this lady has worked extremely hard over the last 18 months, she never thought she could achieve and lacked self-belief. Carol however remained determined she attended maths and English sessions after work hours, also attended the sector specific workshops she wanted to learn as much as she could only describing her a sponge, she loved to absorb as much information as she could. Due to the recent COVID 19 Carol had to complete her EPA remotely, this is something we hadn’t practiced as always been face 2 face, Carol did exceptionally well and achieved a DISTINCTION, I am very proud of her I know how much hard work she has out into achieving all of her qualifications, she is also making good progress with her L3 Management Diploma. Well done Carol you are a super star!

When I started supporting Carol with her functional skills she lacked any self-confidence and really didn’t think she would achieve level 2 in maths or English. She attended workshop sessions with me on a weekly basis, even returning to work when she had finished in centre, taking homework away with her. Carol worked tirelessly on mock papers, Bksb modules, worksheets and even picked her son’s brain when she was struggling at home. Her dedication and determination to succeed has been second to none.

A year after I started working with Carol, I was absolutely thrilled to share the news with her that she had passed her level 2 maths exam, first time of sitting. Shortly after, she went on to successfully pass all elements of her level 2 English.

What a dedicated student she has been and an absolute pleasure to work with and support. I am extremely proud of Carol’s success.

A huge well done Carol and I wish her all the very best for a successful future.
