Juniper offers all new and existing staff the opportunity to learn and develop. As our business is focused on delivering good quality training to help people to change their lives, it is vital that our staff feel competent within their roles. Training is available from your first day with us and continues throughout your employment via internal and external training. Training is delivered by our HR staff training and development officer as well as staff who have been highlighted as having an expertise in a particular field. Here are some of the opportunities available to staff:

New staff induction
Every person that is offered employment with Juniper is required to attend a one/two day induction. This takes place at our Wolverhampton office and gives all staff the opportunity to meet the senior management team.
During the two days some of the information/knowledge you will gain is:

  • History of Juniper
  • Structure of the company
  • Relevant information on staff benefits
  • Staff training opportunities.

When starting at your relevant centre you will be able to shadow a staff member within the same role and also learn from staff in other roles to ensure that you are fully aware of the journey of the learner. Staff are encouraged to visit other centres where possible to help you learn more about other centres and help to build relationships.

Competency Plans
Staff are given a competency plan on day one of their induction. Competency plans identify key areas of specific job roles and give staff the opportunity to learn about all aspects of their job roles, this enables us to identify any training needs staff may have. Once these are identified, staff can attend various internal/external training sessions to improve their knowledge, confidence and ability.

Competency is demonstrated once all areas pertaining to the specific job roles have been signed off – this is achieved through providing evidence and regular discussion. Juniper continues to support and develop staff throughout the three month competency period to ensure staff are fully competent in their job roles. 

Internal Training
Throughout the year various internal training courses are arranged for staff to attend. These courses are published so that staff are aware of up and coming sessions and can arrange their own training. We ensure we cover all areas which will help to support staff when carring out their daily roles.
we also deliver accredited PTLLS & CTLLS courses in-house for any staff member who has not already got a training qualification.

External Training
Staff are encouraged to highlight any external training that they feel will help them within their role.
Many of our staff have gained various qualifications such as:

  • DTLLS
  • Literacy and Numeracy qualifications
  • IAG (various levels)
  • Equality and Diversity
  • NVQ’s
  • Management
  • Subject Specialism
